CNS Home Health & Hospice Employee Leads State Chapter

WINFIELD, Ill., July 3, 2007—Kathleen Sanford, volunteer services supervisor for CNS Home Health & Hospice in Carol Stream, was recently voted president of the Illinois State Chapter for Volunteer Management Administration. The organization is a chapter of the Illinois State Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

Sanford, who has worked for CNS Home Health & Hospice, an affiliate of Central DuPage Hospital, for just under two years, leads a team of 110 volunteers. Volunteers provide companionship, and respite care for hospice patients and their families, follow-up bereavement support to individuals who have lost a loved one, offer companionship and support to chronically ill, socially isolated elderly, help in the office and work with the newly established pet companion program.

“The work Kathleen is doing really makes a difference to our patients and their families,” said Lisa Brown-Van Arsdale, director of Development. “We’re so proud that others can share the leadership skills she offers us everyday. Working with others throughout the state, she’s able to share ideas and network with other agencies to find ways to recruit, motivate, encourage and thank our volunteers.”

Sanford received her Bachelors Degree in Social Work (BSW) from Southern Illinois University.

She resides in St. Charles.
