Parish Nursing

The Parish Nurse Program of CNS Home Health & Hospice (CNS) is an innovative approach to addressing the health care concerns and needs of faith based community members and their families.  Our program focuses on faith in healing and is open to all religious denominations.  Faith communities and CNS work together to integrate spirituality and health by using a holistic approach to care that encompasses the mind the body and the spirit.

Parish Nurses are registered nurses who are also persons of faith.  They have extensive knowledge about community resources, but do not provide “hands on” nursing care.  Instead, they provide supportive care which can include:

  • Linking a faith community member to a physician, home care, hospice or health care facility.
  • Serving as a personal health counselor, health educator, referral agent and facilitator .
  • Coordinating wellness programs such as but not limited to; blood pressure checks, CPR training, flu shots, blood drives and depression screenings.
  • Visiting faith community members in the hospital or at home.

If your church, temple, synagogue or mosque is interested in starting up a parish nurse program, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
